Sep 07, 2025

Heads of government from across Africa and the Caribbean have convened at the African Union headquarters for the 2nd Africa-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Summit.

The high-level meeting, themed “Transcontinental Partnership for Reparatory Justice for Africans and the African Diaspora,” aims to strengthen the ties between the two regions and foster a united voice on the global stage.

Among the distinguished leaders present are Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Angolan President and African Union Chairperson João Lourenço, and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf. The summit also welcomes CARICOM Secretary-General and Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Mottley, along with other Caribbean leaders and ministers, ENA reported.

The event is designed to transform the historical relationship between Africa and CARICOM nations into a robust economic and diplomatic partnership through the spirit of South-South cooperation. As the host nation, Ethiopia, a land long celebrated as the birthplace of humanity and a beacon of Black liberation, is playing a leading role in the discussions.
