General Tsadikan Gebretensae has declared that a "very bright future" awaits Ethiopia, but stressed it is conditional upon maintaining peace, practicing tolerance, and resolving political issues.
The veteran General offered his optimistic outlook after participating in the conversation at Sof Omar discussion, a high-level dialogue hosted by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed with current and former leaders.
General Tsadikan expressed genuine surprise over the scale of resource development he witnessed in the Bale Zone, admitting: "What I saw in Bale was absolutely beyond my expectation." He confessed he had been previously unaware the area possessed such expansive land, water, and ecological wealth.
He highlighted that hundreds of thousands of hectares are currently under cultivation using Bale's rivers, concluding that "seeing this instills great hope."
Beyond agriculture, development is also targeting cultural sites, with the renowned Sof Omar Cave being prepared for improved accessibility. The General suggested that this visible, above-ground progress would be matched by the development of the nation's untapped underground resources.
Reinforcing his core message, General Tsadikan stated: "If we maintain our peace, practice tolerance, and fix the problems in our political system in a way that resolves our issues, I see that we have a very bright future."
He concluded with optimism that the peaceful resolution of national challenges, focused on the country's benefit, coupled with economic growth, will inevitably lead to the necessary rectification of the political system.
