The Organization of Southern Cooperation (OSC) has taken center stage at the "Africa Celebrates 2025" Pan-African event, delivering a powerful message on the critical role of digital transformation in advancing justice across the Global South.
The event, dedicated to promoting African unity, art, culture, and innovation, featured a keynote address from Dr. Shumete Gizaw, OSC’s Under-Secretary-General for Technological Innovations and Digitalization Enhancement (TIDE), during the opening forum on "Innovation and Technology."
Speaking on behalf of Secretary-General Manssour Bin Mussallam, Dr. Shumete’s presentation, "The Digital Pillars of Reparative Justice: Aligning Africa's Digital Roadmap with the Mandate for Redress and Dignity," emphasized the transformative potential of digital innovation to create a more just and inclusive future.
Dr. Shumete stressed that meaningful digital transformation must be anchored in endogenous technology development and open-source innovation. He positioned these principles as essential pathways to advancing justice, equity, and dignity for all Southern nations.
The OSC's participation at the event, held in Addis Ababa on November 6, 2025, underscored its commitment to integrating technological advancement with the pursuit of reparative justice, aligning Africa's digital future with a broader mandate for social redress and dignity.
