Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed met with the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Claver Gatete, today to coordinate efforts for the successful hosting of the 2027 UN Climate Change Conference, COP 32.

In a post on his social media, the Prime Minister announced the outcome of the high-level meeting:

"I had a fruitful discussion with the Executive Secretary of UN ECA Claver Gatete on the needs and modalities of working together to deliver a truly African COP in 2027."

PM Abiy stressed the importance of UNECA's role, stating:

"I am confident that the Economic Commission for Africa with the ES and his team will contribute immensely in making COP 32 a remarkable success for Africa."
