Africa To Showcase Climate Solutions At Addis Ababa Conference

The upcoming African Climate Conference will serve as a pivotal platform for African nations to present homegrown solutions to global climate change challenges, according to the Ministry of Planning and Development.

State Minister of Planning and Development, Seyoum Mekonnen, announced the preparations for the second edition of the conference, emphasising Ethiopia's commitment to facilitating a productive and impactful event.

The conference is scheduled to take place in Addis Ababa from September 8th to 10th, 2025, preceded by a pre-conference session from July 30th to August 2nd.

State Minister Seyoum stated that Ethiopia is undertaking extensive preparations to ensure the successful execution of the conference.

He highlighted that the focus will be on showcasing tangible efforts made by African countries to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. Specific examples of effective initiatives and projects will be presented, demonstrating the continent's proactive approach to addressing the issue.

Ethiopia, in particular, plans to highlight its leading green development projects, showcasing sustainable solutions implemented within the country. The summit will also provide a valuable opportunity for African nations to articulate a unified stance on climate-related issues and advocate for their collective interests on the global stage.

Under the theme "Accelerating Global Climate Solutions and Financing Africa's Sustainable and Green Development," the summit is anticipated to draw a significant number of participants, with estimates ranging from 20,000 to 25,000 attendees, including prominent leaders from various countries.

The conference aims to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the mobilisation of resources to advance sustainable and climate-resilient development across the African continent.
