Zambia Secures $1.1 Billion Deal for Ndola Oil Refinery, Boosting Energy Independence

Zambia has entered a landmark $1.1 billion agreement with China's Fujian Xiang Xin Corporation to construct a comprehensive crude oil refinery and energy complex in Ndola. This ambitious project is set to significantly transform Zambia's energy landscape, aiming to drastically reduce the nation's reliance on imported fuel and position it as a potential regional hub for refined petroleum products.

The new facility will boast a processing capacity of 60,000 barrels per day, enough to meet Zambia's current domestic fuel demand. According to Africa View Facts, beyond refined crude oil, the complex will integrate additional crucial infrastructure, including a 130-megawatt power plant, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) bottling capabilities, and production units for bitumen and lubricants, thereby adding substantial value across the energy chain.
