State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Birhanu Tsegaye, stated that the 2nd World Food Systems Summit is a platform for Ethiopia to showcase its work in the food system to the world.
The state minister also announced that all preparations have been finalized to welcome guests for the 2nd United Nations Food Systems Summit, which Ethiopia will host for three days starting tomorrow. He added that over 4,700 participants are expected to attend the summit.
Ambassador Birhanu stated that Ethiopia has undertaken extensive work in the food system, from production to consumption. He noted that by hosting this Food Systems Summit, Ethiopia aims to demonstrate its progress and experience to the world.
"The summit is an opportunity for us to share positive experiences with Africa and other international institutions and to create market linkages for selling Ethiopian products beyond domestic consumption to other countries," he said.
The state minister further explained that extensive work done in Ethiopia's food system will be promoted to international governments and media both at and outside the summit through visits.
Uganda's Vice President Jessica Alupo has also arrived in Addis Ababa to attend the 2nd UN Summit. Upon her arrival at Bole International Airport, she was welcomed by Deputy Chairman Adem Farah.
