Ethiopia Prioritizes Tech Education to Build a Competitive Workforce

Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh announced that the Ethiopian government is actively working to create a competent and competitive generation in the technology sector.

The announcement came during the graduation ceremony for teenagers who completed the 2025 summer camp training at the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, the institute's Director General Dr. Worku Gachena, and other senior government officials.

In his address, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the government's commitment to nurturing a skilled and competitive generation. He highlighted that over the past three years, summer programs have been providing artificial intelligence (AI) training to young people, preparing them to be the nation's future leaders. He noted that work is currently underway to ensure Ethiopia remains competitive in AI, which he referred to as the "revolution of the future."

To achieve this goal, the government has established the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute to strengthen the country's national capacity in the tech sector. The Deputy Prime Minister also pointed out that significant efforts in AI and other technological innovations are being made to realize the vision of Digital Ethiopia. He concluded by assuring that the ongoing initiatives to train young people and enhance their skills and knowledge in technology will be further expanded and strengthened.
