The number of investors operating in various sectors within Addis Ababa is on the rise, according to the Addis Ababa Investment Commission.
Aisha Mohammed, Commissioner of the Addis Ababa Investment Commission, reported that over 3,200 investors with a registered capital of more than 8.5 billion birr were licensed to start operations during the 2017 fiscal year.
To attract more investment, the commission is offering various incentives, including income tax holidays of three to five years, depending on the sector, and support for manufacturing space and machinery.
For the current 2018 fiscal year, the commission aims to license over 3,500 investors who are expected to register more than 10 billion birr in capital and create jobs for over 7,500 people.
Commissioner Aisha also noted efforts to modernize services and boost investment by promoting the city's potential, using technology to streamline processes, and collaboratively addressing governance issues.
The commissioner highlighted the significant role of the Mesob One-Stop service center in facilitating investment and noted that the manufacturing sector had the strongest performance in 2017.
