PM Abiy Welcomes Key Development Leaders to UN Food Systems Summit

As the 2nd UN Food Systems Summit continues in the Ethiopian capital, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali has extended a warm welcome to key international development leaders, emphasizing Ethiopia's strong partnerships for sustainable development across Africa.

Prime Minister Abiy welcomed Alvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The prime minister highlighted IFAD's crucial role in empowering rural communities and advancing inclusive, sustainable agricultural development, noting Ethiopia's strong partnership in the shared mission to build resilient livelihoods.

He also extended a warm welcome to Ahunna Eziakonwa, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Africa. Prime Minister Abiy expressed great appreciation for UNDP’s unwavering partnership in advancing inclusive development, peacebuilding, and resilience across the African continent.

The presence of these high-level officials at the summit in Addis Ababa reaffirms the collaborative spirit and strategic alliances being reinforced during the high-profile event, which aims to transform global food systems and foster broader development throughout the African region.
