Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has welcomed the launch of the pan-African media platform Pulse of Africa, calling it a significant move to counter negative media portrayals and assert Africa's agency in shaping its own narrative.
In a statement posted on social media, the Prime Minister acknowledged that Africa is a vast continent full of potential, but noted it has been "too often been portrayed as smaller and less capable than it truly is."
He emphasized that the new platform marks a "significant and humble beginning" that is "poised to grow into a leading continental media platform" in the coming years.
PM Abiy stressed the timeliness of the initiative, asserting that Africa is firmly "on the path to becoming a major industrial powerhouse and a key global player."
The Prime Minister concluded that the establishment of Pulse of Africa represents a forward-looking step and lays the foundation for a strong and authentic African voice in the global media landscape.
