Ethio Telecom has launched a new line of cloud-enabled smart devices called Znexus to significantly increase smartphone access and promote digital inclusion across Ethiopia.
This strategic move directly addresses the existing "usage gap"—the large population that remains digitally excluded despite the country's extensive 4G and 5G network expansion.
The Znexus devices, which include models like the 127 Lite and 131 Lite, are designed to be highly affordable and feature a simplified user interface, extended battery life, and integrated cloud storage to reduce hardware costs.
They come preloaded with essential services such as the telebirr mobile money platform, educational content, and social media, making them accessible and useful for first-time users, rural communities, students, and the elderly.
Alongside the consumer devices, the company is rolling out Cloud Workspace solutions, a scalable, secure, and cost-effective pay-as-you-go platform for businesses to access virtual applications and desktops, further supporting the national digital economy.
This initiative is a core part of Ethio Telecom's strategy to move beyond network coverage and actively empower both individuals and enterprises to fully participate in the digital world.
