Adem Farah Calls for Stronger Coordination to Tackle Cost of Living, Boost Job Creation

Oct 20, 2025

Ethiopia must strengthen coordination among stakeholder institutions to successfully achieve the national goals of stabilizing the cost of living, creating job opportunities, and ensuring a transition out of foreign aid dependency.

This call was made by Adem Farah, Head of the Center for Coordination of Democratic System Building with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy President of the ruling Prosperity Party.

The Deputy Party President's remarks came today as the Prosperity Party continued its first quarter performance review meeting for the 2018 fiscal year, ENA reported. The forum’s agenda focused heavily on government performance concerning job creation, efforts to reduce the high cost of living, and progress toward eliminating aid dependency.

Adem Farah stressed that stabilizing the cost of living and job creation are "urgent issues that require focus."

He further emphasized the profound national importance of the third objective: "Transitioning out of dependency is a crucial way to ensure full sovereignty," he stated, stressing that all stakeholders must work toward this goal in a coordinated manner.

To fully realize all three national goals, Adem underscored the necessity of reinforcing inter-institutional coordination. While acknowledging that national results have been achieved in performance thus far, he indicated that efforts must now be directed toward closing the performance gap evident between various regions.

He concluded by stressing the importance of joint planning and collective, in-depth evaluation of performance to maximize effectiveness across the entire sector.
