Oct 20, 2025

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Gedion Timothewos is in Moscow for an official working visit, using his time to hold high-level discussions aimed at elevating the multifaceted cooperation between Ethiopia and the Russian Federation.

On his first day, the Minister met with officials from the Russian Atomic Energy Agency (Rosatom), where the two sides conferred on issues designed to take their bilateral partnership to a "higher level."

Dr. Gedion also held talks with Maxim Reshetnikov Gennadyevich, Russia’s Minister of Economic Development and Chairman of the Ethiopia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical Cooperation, and Trade. The two officials discussed sectors where their long-standing ties could be further strengthened.

During the exchange, Minister Reshetnikov announced a key diplomatic pledge, stating that Russia fully supports Ethiopia's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), a significant endorsement for Addis Ababa's ongoing membership negotiations.
