Ethiopian Consulate in Dubai Marks One-Year Green Footprint Program

The Ethiopian Consulate General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates has successfully concluded a one-year green footprint program, answering Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed's call to plant 700 million seedlings in the region.

The initiative, held under the theme “Renewal Through Planting,” saw the participation of Ambassador Aklilu Kebede, diplomats, consulate and community office staff, and members of the Ethiopian diaspora.

This local effort is part of Ethiopia's broader national green footprint program, which is now in its seventh year. The country aims to plant over 8 billion seedlings this year, bringing the total number of trees planted in the last seven years to more than 48 billion.

Ethiopia's ambitious greening efforts play a crucial role in mitigating climate change, alleviating poverty, enhancing food security, and delivering widespread economic benefits across various sectors.
