The Ministry of Water and Energy has signed a contract with Aser Construction PLC for the construction, operation and maintenance of the Mekelle City Sewage Treatment Plant, Filtration and Disposal Project, which requires over 2 billion Birr.
Signing the agreement, Minister of Water and Energy, Habtamu Itefa (PhD.), recalled that Aser Construction has extensive experience and urged the PLC to make every effort to benefit the people of Mekelle by swiftly delivering the project maintaining quality and standard.
The Minister also called on Aser to work together with the Mekelle City Drinking Water and Sanitation Service Office and engage stakeholders in helping the people of Mekelle to quickly resolve their problems and benefit from the development.
The General Manager of Mekelle City Water and Sewerage Service in Tigray Region, Asheenafi Zeabraha, said that they will work in accordance with the contracts they signed to benefit the community.
General Manager of Aser Construction, Yamene Abraha, on his part recalled that Aser has participated in large water projects in the past and promised it will complete this project quickly and with quality.
The Mekelle City Sewage Storage, Filter and Treatment Plant will be constructed, operated and maintained with financial assistance of more than 2 billion birr from the World Bank, and the entire work will be completed in 18 months.
