Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has officially announced the launch of the Tananesh Ferry, a significant boost to tourism and accessibility on Ethiopia's largest lake, Lake Tana.
In a social media post today, the prime minister shared that the ferry has begun its "long-awaited voyage," connecting Bahir Dar City with the newly established Dine for Generations project, the Gorgora Eco Lodge. Ferry Tananesh, which boasts a substantial capacity of over 180 passengers, is set to dramatically enhance access to the Gorgora Eco Lodge. The service transforms the lodge into a far more accessible destination for visitors seeking to relax and admire the breathtaking natural beauty of the lake.
The ferry service is a critical component of the national development agenda focused on enhancing infrastructure and promoting high-value tourism across Ethiopia, particularly through projects like 'Dine for Generations.' The launch is expected to spur economic activity and solidify the Gorgora Eco Lodge's status as a must-visit location on Lake Tana.
