The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) are set to co-host the highly anticipated 3rd Edition of the IGAD Media Awards on November 28–29, 2025, in the capital.
This year’s theme, “Storytelling for Climate Action,” aligns strongly with Ethiopia's commitment to environmental stewardship. A state minister from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that hosting the event "is a platform that aligns with our vision for a greener, more resilient Africa," citing the ongoing national Green Legacy initiative.
The event will recognize the media professionals whose compelling work captures the resilience and solutions to climate change across the Horn of Africa. Abebaw Bihonegn, Head of the IGAD Mission to Ethiopia, emphasized the spirit of partnership: "The IGAD Media Awards embody our collective belief that storytelling is a force for change... reflecting our shared vision for a peaceful, resilient, and sustainable Horn of Africa."
The awards ceremony and the parallel Voices for Climate Action Knowledge Share Fair are supported by Pan-African institutions Pulse of Africa and Exim Bank.
