Ethiopia's Minister of Planning and Development, Dr. Fitsum Assefa, confirmed the country's full commitment and readiness to host the 32nd Conference of the Parties (COP 32) in 2027.

The announcement was made during the ongoing COP 30 summit in Belém, Brazil, where Dr. Fitsum extended gratitude to the nations and stakeholders who supported Ethiopia's bid.

Ethiopia recently secured the host role. Dr. Fitsum emphasized that the Addis Ababa-hosted summit is poised to be a crucial milestone for global climate action, serving as a platform to review and realign national climate change prevention efforts.

"Ethiopia is ready to assume the responsibility of hosting COP 32," the Minister stated, confirming the conference will "reflect Africa's aspirations, transparency, and collective action."

Pledging an inclusive process, Dr. Fitsum assured that COP 32 would be an environment "where all voices are heard and respected," ultimately leading to a "strong and meaningful outcome."

She highlighted that the conference will be a source for solutions to the international climate crisis.

"The next two years will profoundly shape the world's approach to climate change mitigation," she asserted, reiterating that Ethiopia is "capable and well-prepared" to deliver the conference successfully.

The Minister concluded with a firm message to the international community: "Africa is ready. Ethiopia is ready to host the climate change conference with a sense of responsibility and commitment."
