Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest carrier, has solidified its position as the continent’s biggest operator of the Airbus A350 by placing a firm order for six additional A350-900 aircraft.

The agreement was finalized at the Dubai Airshow by Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business. This fleet expansion aligns directly with the airline’s 'Vision 2035' strategy, which focuses on sustainable growth and fleet modernization.

CEO Mesfin stated that the order supports their commitment to providing a world-class travel experience and strengthens their role as the aviation leader in Africa.

Airbus highlighted that the A350-900 is central to this strategy, noting its 25% lower fuel burn and CO₂ emissions compared to previous-generation jets, along with its reputation for an exceptionally quiet cabin and advanced passenger comfort features, bringing greater efficiency and versatility to Ethiopian's intercontinental operations.
