President Taye Highlights Conducive Investment Climate for Malaysian Companies in Ethiopia

President Taye Atske Selassie stated today that Ethiopia has established a conducive environment for Malaysian companies to capitalize on the nation's expanding trade and investment opportunities.

The President made these remarks during the Ethiopia-Malaysia High-Level Business Forum held at the Addis International Convention Center.

The forum was attended by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Minister of Trade and Regional Integration Dr. Kassahun Gofe, senior government officials, and prominent investors from both nations.

President Taye remarked that the Malaysian Prime Minister’s visit underscores a firm commitment to fortifying commercial ties and enhancing people-to-people relations. He noted that the shared multicultural values of Ethiopia and Malaysia present a unique foundation for mutual growth and regional cooperation.

While diplomatic relations date back to 1965, the President emphasized the urgent need to translate these historical ties into robust trade and investment partnerships.

Highlighting Ethiopia's economic trajectory, President Taye explained that the country has successfully implemented Homegrown Economic Reforms to build a digitally enabled investment ecosystem. He also noted that Ethiopia is on the right path toward ensuring food security through sustained agricultural development.

The President outlined specific areas for deepened cooperation, stating:

"It is essential to strengthen trade and investment collaboration in agriculture, livestock, mining, and other critical development sectors."

President Taye invited Malaysian companies to actively participate in Ethiopia's development, urging them to seize current opportunities to foster shared prosperity.

He commended Malaysia for its efforts to expand the partnership beyond diplomatic channels into tangible economic cooperation and expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his dedication to strengthening the comprehensive alliance between the two countries, ENA learned.
