Ethiopia, Azerbaijan Bolster Ties with Focus on Defense Industry Cooperation

Ethiopia and the Republic of Azerbaijan have successfully held bilateral talks aimed at establishing a joint framework for cooperation within the defense industry sectors.

A high-level delegation, headed by Vugar Mustafayev, Minister of Defense Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan, arrived in Ethiopia yesterday for a working visit. Today, the delegation proceeded to the Ministry of Defense to conduct bilateral discussions with the Minister of Defense, Engineer Aisha Mohammed, and other senior officials.

During the talks, the Minister of Defense, Engineer Aisha Mohammed, conveyed the profound honor felt in receiving the Azerbaijani Minister at the Ministry of Defense and in Addis Ababa—a city recognized for its large diplomatic community—to advance collaborative efforts.

Minister Aisha articulated that Ethiopia is prioritizing the reinforcement of its defense industry infrastructure and expressed the country's readiness to learn from the Republic of Azerbaijan's experience in areas such as military technology, industrial capacity, and related issues. She reaffirmed Ethiopia's strong commitment to strengthening the overall cooperation between the two nations.

Responding in kind, the Minister of Defense Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Vugar Mustafayev, affirmed his country's willingness to enhance its collaboration with Ethiopia, specifically by sharing its expertise in the defense industry sector. He also disclosed Azerbaijan’s interest in making Ethiopia a partner in its defense industry.

To advance this partnership, Minister Aisha Mohammed extended an invitation to her Azerbaijani counterpart to visit the Republic of Azerbaijan and tour its military industries. The visiting delegation is scheduled to tour Ethiopian defense industries in the near future.
