Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed chaired a meeting of the National Steering Committee for COP32, aligning government efforts just one day after the official announcement of Ethiopia's President-Designate for the upcoming climate conference.
The high-level meeting convened this morning to establish key preparatory tasks and ensure a cohesive approach as Ethiopia begins organizing the 32nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP32) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
A statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) confirmed that the government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring an "inclusive and well-coordinated process" throughout the preparation and execution of the major global summit.
The committee is responsible for overseeing all logistical, substantive, and diplomatic efforts related to Ethiopia's presidency and hosting of COP32.
