Ethiopia U-17 Qualify for AFCON After 22 Years

Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh has hailed the qualification of the Ethiopia U-17 national football team, the 'Red Foxes', for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in 22 years.

The team secured their spot by defeating Kenya 3-0, a result the Deputy PM described as "great news of victory" for the nation's passionate football fans.

In a congratulatory message, Temesgen Tiruneh stated:

"Congratulations on the Ethiopia U-17 National Team (the Red Foxes) qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations after 22 years, by defeating Kenya with a score of 3-0!"

He further emphasised the importance of youth development, suggesting the victory demonstrates a path to future success:

"This success is an indicator that the time is not far when our football will rise on continental and global stages if we work hard on young talent in the sports sector."

The Deputy Prime Minister concluded by extending his gratitude to all those involved, reiterating a collective sense of pride: "Congratulations to you! Congratulations to us!"
