Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie has announced the creation of 30,000 new job opportunities for youths and women, stating the move is central to improving residents’ livelihoods in the Ethiopian capital.
The mayor emphasized that the city’s beautification efforts must be intrinsically linked to improving the lives and economic stability of its residents.
She stated that these new job starters, who were integrated into work today, are the youths and women who previously raised questions about job opportunities during various forums.
The mayor explained that the beneficiaries of these job opportunities were organized into enterprises and deployed in special focus areas such as urban agriculture, manufacturing, construction, trade, services, and other lucrative sectors, starting work today.
She noted that this job creation initiative, which is being widely implemented in the city, will continue to be supported with special attention and strengthened going forward.
The City Administration further affirmed that it will continue to strengthen its support across all sectors for hard-working, entrepreneurial citizens who live by the fruit of their labor.
The mayor stated that the started efforts to fully realize the journey toward prosperity by enabling citizens to be more productive in the world of work will be further strengthened in the city.
Finally, the mayor announced that the administration will provide the necessary support and follow-up to the youths and women for whom the jobs were created. She further expressed that they are expected to become successful citizens who change their own history and the city’s history by utilizing the opportunity effectively and working diligently.
