Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to arrive in Ethiopia on December 16-17, 2025 marking his first official visit to the nation. He is currently on a three-nation diplomatic tour covering Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO)India. The Addis Ababa stop forms a crucial part of his three-nation diplomatic tour aimed at boosting India’s engagements in West Asia and Africa.

The Prime Minister's multi-nation itinerary confirms his focused strategy:

Jordan (Began Today): The tour commenced today (December 15th) with a visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. PM Modi will be holding talks with King Abdullah II.

Ethiopia (Key African Ally): From Jordan, the Prime Minister will travel to Ethiopia. The core of his visit will be an address to a Joint Session of the Ethiopian Parliament. He is expected to share India's democratic journey and emphasize the value of the India-Ethiopia partnership for the Global South. He will also hold detailed bilateral discussions with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali.

Oman (Final Leg): The trip will conclude with a visit to the Sultanate of Oman, where the Prime Minister will reinforce the Strategic Partnership and celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
