Nigerian industrialist and the Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has distributed $20.7 million in cash awards to nearly 1,800 long-serving employees, in what is being hailed as one of the largest single employee reward programmes by a Nigerian private sector firm.
The announcement was made at the company's annual BUA Night of Excellence Long Service Awards held in Lagos on Saturday, 13 December 2025.
The rewards, which saw payouts to 1,768 employees across various levels—from front-line staff to senior executives—underscore Mr Rabiu's focus on employee welfare and loyalty. The largest individual awards were reported to be around $691,000 for five long-serving staff members.
This generous move follows an earlier 50% salary increase implemented across the BUA Group in 2025, which aimed to support workers facing heightened economic pressures and rising inflation in Nigeria. The story is from Business Insider Africa.
