In a historic address to a joint session of the House of Peoples' Representatives and the House of Federation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi labeled Ethiopia the "center of Africa" and a vital strategic partner.

Opening his speech with a personal reflection, Modi drew a parallel between Ethiopia and his home state of Gujarat. "Being in the great Ethiopia, the 'Land of Lions,' gives me great joy. My birthplace, Gujarat, is also the home of lions; being here today feels like being at home," he told lawmakers.

The Prime Minister’s address focused on three key pillars:

  1. Global Advocacy: Coordinating the voices of India and Ethiopia to fight for the rights of developing nations on the world stage.
  2. Regional Stability: Commending Ethiopia’s role in maintaining peace and security in the Horn of Africa.
  3. Security Cooperation: Expanding ties in military affairs, cyber security, and industrial capacity building.

PM Modi concluded by stating that when the desires of a government align with the aspirations of its people, nations achieve their greatest potential.
