PM Modi Hails "Historic" Ethiopia-India Ties in Landmark Addis Ababa Visit

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has concluded the first leg of his official visit to Ethiopia, signaling a transition from historical diplomacy to a "strategic partnership." During a high-profile ceremony, the Prime Minister laid a wreath at the Adwa Victory Memorial, a site he described as a universal symbol of freedom for all black people.

Addressing the deepening ties between the two nations, Modi emphasized that the relationship is rooted in ancient history and shared cultural values. The visit is expected to open a "new chapter" in trade and investment, with both nations pledging to cooperate on global challenges.

 

"I am here out of great respect for your people and your democratic journey," the Prime Minister stated, expressing his gratitude to the Ethiopian government for the warm reception.
