Ethiopian Airlines has reinforced its position as the continents undisputed aviation leader, deploying a record 2,004,642 departing seats throughout December. Data from Business Insider Africa, obtained through OAG’s Schedules Analyser reveals that this figure—which represents the total passenger capacity available across every scheduled flight taking off this month—marks a 4.1% increase over the previous year and highlights the carrier's massive operational scale.
The airlines capacity is now nearly double that of its closest rival, South Africas Safair, which offered just over one million seats. By maintaining such high volume during the peak travel season, Ethiopian Airlines continues to dominate regional connectivity and solidify its role as the primary engine for African travel and trade.
