Ethiopia is intensifying efforts to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, strengthen national energy security, and lower carbon emissions by prioritizing renewable energy sources, according to the Office of the Prime Minister (PMO).
The governments renewable energy drive is anchored in national goals to power sustainable growth and support industrialization while protecting the environment. By focusing on hydropower, wind, solar, and geothermalprojects, the initiative seeks to provide affordable power for households and industries, fostering local manufacturing and job creation.
Beyond industrial growth, the PMO emphasized that these efforts aim to extend reliable electricity access to underserved communities. Collectively, these initiatives are intended to lay the foundation for a resilient, climate-friendly economy and long-term energy independence.
