Foreign Minister Dr. Gedion Timothewos has discussed with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The minister of foreign affairs Dr. Gedion during the discussion mentioned Ethiopia's strong and unchangeable strategic partnership with China. The minister also stated that the relationship of the two countries is based on long term friendship, cooperation and mutual respect.
Dr. Gedion appreciates the support China is doing for the development of Ethiopia: Ethiopia has confirmed its commitment to strengthen the economic cooperation between the two countries.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion has given attention to the Horn of Africa Peace and Development Initiative presented by China and expressed its importance to solving the ongoing security, development and administration challenges.
The minister confirmed Ethiopia's commitment to work together on the Ethiopian-China partnership through different multiple platforms, namely One Belt and Road Initiative, China-Africa Cooperation Platform, BRICS-Plus and United Nations frameworks.
China's foreign minister Wang Yi stated that the visit to Africa will be their first trip abroad in 2026 and Ethiopia will be their first destination. This is China's lasting partnership with Africa and Ethiopia as a major strategic partner.
China has confirmed its commitment to strengthen all kinds of partnership with Ethiopia in different sectors of cooperation. The two ministers have agreed to strengthen strategic coordination on bilateral, continuous and multilateral communication platforms.
