Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visited a model development site in Guraferda Woreda, South West Ethiopia Peoples’ Region, today to highlight the progress of the national rural corridor initiative.

The site, developed by the Office of the Prime Minister and its accountable institutions, features ten modern homes designed to transform the living standards of local farmers and pastoralists. Each residence includes dedicated spaces for living, cooking, and storage, as well as integrated cattle rooms and outdoor bathrooms. The homes are fully connected to the national electric grid and equipped with satellite dishes.

The development integrates several agricultural and sustainability interventions, including:

Infrastructure: Solar energy and biogas systems.

Livelihoods: Chicken coops, cattle shelters, and beehives.

Nutrition: Gardens cultivated with various fruits and vegetables.

Prime Minister Abiy described the initiative as a major catalyst for modernizing rural life, providing communities with a "clean and improved standard of living." He concluded the visit by calling for nationwide cooperation to ensure the expansion and success of the transformative project across all regions.
