Ethiopia and Belarus have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding to enhance military cooperation. The agreement was signed on Thursday by Ethiopia’s Minister of Defense, Engineer Aisha Mohammed, and her Belarusian counterpart, Dmitry Pantus.
Engineer Aisha stated the accord is vital for advancing Ethiopia’s military technology and industrial capacity as the country seeks self-sufficiency in defense production. She noted that Ethiopia’s role as a regional hub would facilitate shared markets while strengthening long-standing diplomatic ties.
Pantus added that the agreement elevates existing relations and opens new avenues for cooperation beyond current joint projects. The signing comes as the Belarusian Air Force prepares to perform an aerial display tomorrow to mark the 90th anniversary of the Ethiopian Air Force.
