Ethiopia’s "Medemer" administration has successfully delivered several large-scale national projects designed to accelerate the country’s path toward prosperity, according to Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh. Speaking during a performance review of institutions accountable to the Prime Minister’s Office for the first half of the 2018 fiscal year, Temesgen emphasized that the government has placed institutional capacity building at the heart of its nation-building efforts. He noted that extensive reforms have been implemented to ensure these agencies are not only meeting their core mandates but are also fit for the broader challenge of modernizing the state.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted several landmark achievements over the past six months which he described as clear evidence of the government's strategic success. These include the completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), the ongoing construction of the Bishoftu International Airport, and the progression of oil and fertilizer projects in the Somali Region and other areas. According to DPM Temesgen, these projects serve as vital components of a national strategy to secure Ethiopia's economic future.

Looking ahead, the Deputy Prime Minister explained that the mid-year evaluation was intended to build on current successes while identifying and correcting operational gaps. He stressed that the remainder of the year involves the dual responsibility of fulfilling institutional missions while simultaneously strengthening democratic foundations and securing the public’s mandate. He concluded by calling on both government leadership and the general public to work with a unified spirit to ensure the delivery of even greater results in the coming months.
