Addressing the 10th Regular Session of the 5th Year of the 6th Term of the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed emphasized the necessity of preparing the nation's youth for future global competition. The Prime Minister stated that Ethiopia has integrated technology as one of its five primary pillars of development, with a specific focus on serving future generations through advancements in artificial intelligence.
As part of this technological push, the Prime Minister announced that work is underway to establish what will be the world’s second university dedicated exclusively to artificial intelligence, with the institution expected to begin operations within the next year. Drawing a historical parallel, Prime Minister Abiy noted that just as previous generations built Ethiopian Airlines into a source of national pride, this university is intended to usher in a better future for Ethiopia’s children and the generations to come.
