Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has issued a call to the guests and investors set to attend the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, urging them to seize the vast investment potential currently available in Ethiopia. In his message, the Prime Minister emphasized that Ethiopia has finalized the construction of a favorable, investor-centric business environment.
He highlighted several key enablers that make the country an attractive destination, starting with a reliable power supply where over 98% of energy is derived from renewable sources, spearheaded by the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). Furthermore, the nation offers modern infrastructure through expanding digital networks and enhanced telecommunications, alongside robust policy reforms driven by the Homegrown Economic Reform agenda, a transparent Foreign Direct Investment framework, and the establishment of Special Economic Zones. Investors will also benefit from a reliable, skilled workforce and strategic access to the massive African Continental Free Trade Area.
The Prime Minister assured those planning to attend that Ethiopia is fully prepared to ensure profitability for investors, particularly in the fields of agricultural technology, manufacturing, financial technology, e-commerce, and mining. He noted that these investment activities will significantly contribute to Africa’s shared prosperity by strengthening regional value chains. As Addis Ababa prepares for the 39th African Union Summit and the 2nd Italy-Africa Summit, approximately 17,000 participants are expected to attend, with 800 journalists already arriving to broadcast the events to the world.
