The 2nd Africa-Italy Summit Convenes in Addis Ababa

The 2nd Africa-Italy Summit is currently underway in Addis Ababa. The summit is being attended by leaders from various African nations, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, and heads of various other international organizations.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that Italy seeks a partnership with Africa based on mutual growth and cooperation. To achieve this, she emphasized Italy's desire to transition the "Mattei Plan" into a tangible, operational process.

During his welcoming address, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) expressed Ethiopia's readiness to implement the Mattei Plan. He highlighted that Ethiopia is prepared to align the plan with its top national priorities, including:

Renewable Energy: Expanding sustainable power alternatives.

Agriculture: Boosting productivity and food security.

Social Services: Strengthening education and healthcare systems.

Climate Change: Addressing environmental challenges through joint efforts.
