Feb 13, 2026 141

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni declared today that the Mattei Plan has successfully transitioned from a domestic Italian initiative into a structured international strategy yielding tangible results. Addressing the summit in Addis Ababa, Meloni emphasized that the plan represents a new chapter in history, moving away from paternalistic or predatory models of the past toward a peer-to-peer cooperation based on mutual respect and trust. Supported by the United Nations, the European Union, and the G7, the initiative leverages a financial architecture built in collaboration with the World Bank and the African Development Bank. Meloni highlighted that the strategy focuses on strategic growth areas such as energy interconnection, renewable biofuels, and digital infrastructure. She concluded by stating that the goal is not a mere package of projects but a pact between free nations, asserting that the success of the initiative relies on a continuous ability to listen and fine-tune approaches based on "African wisdom."
