Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) stated in a message that farmers are achieving significant results by moving beyond basic production to creating added value through their contributions.
The Prime Minister noted that the Gibe Didesa Farmers’ Cooperative Union, established in 2004 (1996 E.C.), currently serves 167,000 farmers across 207 primary cooperatives.
Furthermore, he explained that the union has evolved from simply providing agricultural inputs and taxes to actively engaging in value addition. As a primary example, he cited the union’s recently established modern grain mill, which has the capacity to produce 1,200 quintals of maize flour per day.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) also indicated that the factory, built on 2.8 hectares of land, is contributing significantly to the community by creating extensive permanent and temporary job opportunities for local residents.
