Mayor Adanech Abebie has hosted Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the Adwa Victory Memorial, a site she described as a "symbol of pride for all Black people." The visit, which took place this morning, is a cornerstone of the President’s official mission to Ethiopia aimed at strengthening the historic diplomatic and cultural bonds between the two nations.

During the tour of the newly inaugurated memorial and museum, President Herzog and Mayor Adanech explored exhibits detailing the sacrifices of Ethiopian heroes who defended the nation’s sovereignty. The Mayor expressed her gratitude to the President for prioritizing the memorial in his itinerary, highlighting the deep respect both nations share for heritage and national independence.

"On behalf of myself and the City Administration, I wish His Excellency a productive stay in the 'Land of Origins' and our beautiful capital, Addis Ababa," Mayor Adanech stated.

The visit comes at a significant time for regional diplomacy, following the recent African Union Summit and recent high-level visits from other global leaders. Ethiopia and Israel share a long-standing relationship rooted in history, including the heritage of the Beta Israel community.

Beyond the symbolic visit to the Adwa Memorial, President Herzog is scheduled to hold high-level talks with President Taye Atske Selassie and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to discuss bilateral cooperation in areas ranging from technology and agriculture to regional security.
