Ethiopia, Argentina Partner on Peaceful Nuclear Energy

Ethiopia and Argentina have launched a strategic partnership to develop Ethiopia's peaceful nuclear energy program. During a visit to the newly established headquarters of the Ethiopian Nuclear Energy Commission (ENEC), Commissioner Sandokan Debebe and Argentine Ambassador Ignacio Rossi Cottagliata agreed to collaborate on nuclear power generation, research reactor design, and regulatory frameworks.

This partnership marks a new chapter in bilateral relations, specifically focusing on:

  • Technology Transfer: Leveraging Argentina’s extensive experience in reactor design and modern nuclear applications.
  • Human Resource Development: Training Ethiopian personnel to manage and operate nuclear facilities.
  • Regulatory Oversight: Establishing the strict legal and safety frameworks necessary for a sustainable program.
