Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) stated that despite Ethiopia’s history as an uncolonized nation, the country previously lacked dignified locations for visiting foreign leaders to lay wreaths.
The Prime Minister noted that mega-projects, such as the Adwa Victory Memorial and the renovation of national palaces, have filled this historical void while transforming Ethiopia’s international image. Beyond boosting tourism, he emphasized that these initiatives are designed to help the younger generation embrace their national identity and foster a spirit of patriotism.
Drawing comparisons to global hubs like New York, Paris, and Rio de Janeiro, the Prime Minister highlighted that developments in the Entoto and Yeka areas aim to establish world-class tourist attractions. He concluded that this urban modernization is intended to showcase Ethiopia’s storied history to the world in a manner befitting its global significance.
