Afaben military commander Commando Fikru Muluye has officially accepted the government's call for peace, arriving safely with his security detail at the National Defense Forces base in the Lalibela area. Upon his surrender, the commander disclosed that his decision to return to a peaceful path was driven by the realization that the current trajectory of the armed struggle is exposing both the Amhara people and the nation to grave danger.
Commando Fikru explained in detail that the movement’s original objectives had been hijacked by internal opportunists, the TPLF, and various foreign interests, noting that he refused to remain a participant in what he described as the dregs of history or an instrument for external agendas.
Expressing deep regret for the harm caused to the public and the country due to unsettled perceptions, the commander emphasized his firm belief that all grievances must be resolved solely through peaceful dialogue. He affirmed that he has learned from his past mistakes and is now prepared to compensate the people and the nation through constructive service.
According to information obtained from the Ethiopian National Defense Forces’ social media platforms, Commando Fikru Muluye concluded by calling upon other combatants currently in the bush to follow suit, accept the government’s peace offer, and return to a peaceful civilian life.
