Ethiopian Federal Police Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael stated that ensuring reliable national peace and security is a critical factor for conducting elections in a peaceful manner. The Commissioner General made these remarks during a National Security Conference that evaluated the national, regional, and international security landscapes.

During the forum, Commissioner General Demelash noted that current assessments indicate there are no threats identified so far that could disrupt or obstruct the 7th General Election. He further pointed out that the voter registration process and the distribution of election materials to various polling stations are being carried out without any security challenges. It was also noted that the Joint Security and Safety Task Force is providing appropriate protection in all locations where competing parties and election officials are operating.

Additionally, Commissioner General Demelash highlighted that building strong and neutral security institutions has been one of the primary pillars of the government's reform efforts over the past several years. He explained that these reform works have enabled security institutions, including the Federal Police, to become superior in manpower, modern technology, and organizational structure. These transformative measures have fostered institutional capacity to solidify peace and security in the country and to carry out major national missions in the future. He further explained that the institutions have built a capacity that allows them to be a source of reliance not only for the nation but for neighboring countries as well.
