Wingu Africa has officially launched its new cloud platform, Wingu Cloud Exchange (WCX), in Ethiopia, marking a significant step in expanding locally hosted digital infrastructure for East African enterprises.
The company, known for operating Tier III-standard carrier-neutral data centres in the region, says the new platform is designed to support Ethiopia’s growing demand for secure, compliant, and locally accessible cloud services.
With WCX, Ethiopian organisations can keep their data securely within the country, ensuring compliance with local regulations and protecting sensitive information. For businesses, this enables faster access to services, improved operational efficiency, and reliable support through locally optimised infrastructure.
According to Wingu Africa, the platform provides cloud computing, storage, container orchestration, and cybersecurity services through a unified system aimed at simplifying enterprise cloud adoption.
Demos Kyriacou, Deputy CEO, COO and Co-founder of Wingu Africa, said, “WCX is a game-changer for African businesses. We are delivering secure, compliant, and scalable cloud solutions built specifically for local needs. With this platform, we are setting a new standard for digital infrastructure in the region and accelerating Ethiopia’s transformation into a digitally enabled economy.”
The company said WCX is designed to integrate with existing enterprise systems and can operate alongside global cloud providers, allowing businesses to adopt hybrid cloud strategies.
Industry observers note that Ethiopia’s digital economy is expanding rapidly, driven by increased adoption of financial technology, government digitisation initiatives, and enterprise demand for localized data hosting solutions.
Wingu Africa stated that the platform offers a full range of services, including Wingu Compute, Wingu Kubernetes, Wingu Drive, and Wingu Security, enabling businesses to deploy, manage, and secure applications with confidence. The platform also integrates seamlessly with existing on-premises systems and complements global providers such as Azure and AWS, offering customers flexible hybrid options tailored to their operational requirements.
The launch aligns with broader efforts to strengthen Ethiopia’s digital infrastructure and reduce reliance on offshore data hosting, while improving performance and compliance for organisations operating in regulated sectors.
