Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed(PhD) delivered a compelling message contrasting Ethiopia's current economic surge with the unchecked resource wastage of past regimes.
To illustrate this shift, he highlighted the nation's remarkable breakthrough in gold export revenues.
Revealing that gold exports reached $5.6 billion in just the past year alone, Prime Minister Abiy pointed out that this single-year figure surpasses the $3.6 billion total generated across the entire 27 years prior to the reform.
He stressed that this milestone stems not from discovering new gold, but from putting an end to the systemic looting of national resources by private individuals.
Recalling how previous regimes allowed state wealth to enrich individuals building personal high-rises rather than driving national progress, the Prime Minister explained to OBN that these resources now flow directly into the national treasury to serve the public interest.
He noted that adversaries of peace attempt to trigger unrest simply because they cannot accept this reality due to their rigid, unreformable mindsets.
PM Abiy added that achievements recorded in diplomacy, agriculture, and Addis Ababa’s urban renewal in just a few years of reform eclipse what was accomplished in the preceding 27 years combined.
He also indicated that the people of Tigray have recognized this reality and are actively participating with a fresh perspective, breaking decisively from the past.
