Building Stronger Nations Through the Power of Density

Apr 15, 2026 508

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said that building a nation is possible only when a society is formed through "Agglomeration" (density).

The Prime Minister explained that the mindset of "I don't need cities, my supporters are farmers" does not bring about development. He noted that urbanization is crucial for innovation, competition, and better government service delivery.

He also pointed out a significant shift in thinking within the education sector. Instead of distributing low-quality universities across every zone like condominiums, he stated that the focus has shifted toward pre-primary education. The Prime Minister explained that over 34,000 kindergartens have been built in the past six years, an effort aimed at creating a generation with foundational knowledge.

Similarly, he emphasized the need to move away from scattered, sub-standard constructions in health and sports infrastructure, suggesting instead the consolidation of resources to build high-quality institutions. This new direction aims to ensure national prosperity by expanding urbanization centered on "agglomeration."
