African social media influencers arriving in Addis Ababa have praised Ethiopia for its leading role in showcasing the true face of Africa and correcting distorted global narratives. Prominent creators, including Botswana’s Williamlast KRM, described the city as a "second home" and commended Ethiopia’s beauty and development, stating that the nation is doing "incredible work" in revealing the continent's authentic story to the world.

The creators are in the capital for the African Social Media Influencers Summit (ASMIS), also known as the "Pulse of Africa" summit. Organized in collaboration with AGA-Tech, the event is being held at the Adwa Victory Memorial from May 7 to 8, 2026 G.C. under the theme "Influencers for a Better Africa."

The influencers emphasized that Ethiopia’s leadership provides a vital platform for Africans to tell their own stories in their own voices. Representing a combined following of hundreds of millions, participants noted that Ethiopia’s progress serves as a testament to African potential, inspiring content creators to take collective responsibility for projecting a positive and accurate image of the continent, ENA reported.
