Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has expressed his deep sorrow following the passing of Zegeye Asfaw, a prominent figure in Ethiopia’s land reform history and a dedicated public servant.
In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister honored Zegeye’s legacy as a pioneer who fought for the rights of Ethiopian farmers to reclaim their land and led efforts to transform the nation’s land tenure system. Throughout his distinguished career, Zegeye served the country in various ministerial roles.
In his later years, he continued his service as a commissioner for the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission, working to resolve long-standing national challenges through consultation. Prime Minister Abiy described him as a "strong father figure" who spent his entire life supporting the vulnerable and serving his nation.
